Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Exposure and Response Prevention is a gold-standard treatment for OCD and anxiety disorders. ERP helps you gradually face fears or triggers while learning to resist the compulsive behaviors or avoidance that usually follow. Over time, your brain learns that the feared situation is tolerable—and the anxiety naturally decreases.

ERP is highly collaborative. You and your therapist work together to:

Identify triggers and compulsions

Practice exposures in a supportive, controlled way

Build a personalized hierarchy (step-by-step exposure plan)

Learn to tolerate discomfort without performing compulsions
